Rules and Reminders

WAVE STARTS – Please note that the Tri-Shark has an open wave (wave 1) to allow our more competitive athletes to race head to head.  Participants in this wave are eligible for overall awards, but not age group awards. Each swim wave will have a different swim cap color .   Please check the information on your race bib to make sure you are starting in the correct swim wave.  All Duathletes will start their first run at 8 am with the first triathlon swim wave.  Swim start waves will be announced at a later date.

CHIP TIMING - New this year: timing chips are disposable and will be handed out at packet pick up rather than at the entrance to the transition area on race morning as in the past. More information on the timing chips will be available at packet pick up.

NO HEADPHONES – Headphones, headsets, walkmans, ipods, mp3 players, or personal audio devices, etc are NOT to be carried or worn at any time during the race.

AGE REMINDER -  Your age for this race and other USAT sanctioned events is your age as of Dec. 31, 2016 rather than your age on race day.

of USAT rules, go to www.usatriathlon.org

Helmets are MANDATORY for the bike leg.  Chin straps must be securely fastened before you leave the transition area and must remain fastened until you dismount your bike.

All  handlebar ends must be solidly plugged. If you need a bar end covered, we will have supplies at the entrance to the transition area for you to use.

Bike racks will be assigned by swim wave.  You can rack anywhere on a rack marked with your wave. When you arrive in the transition area, please be mindful of others who have already selected a spot on a rack and do not move bikes or equipment without the owner’s permission.

Please be aware of the bike dismount line on the road outside of the transition area. Failure to dismount at this line can result in a time penalty.
