Rules and Reminders
WAVE STARTS – Please note that the Tri-Shark has an open wave (wave
1) to allow our more competitive athletes to race head to head. Participants
in this wave are eligible for overall awards, but not age group awards. Each swim
wave will have a different swim cap color . Please check the information on
your race bib to make sure you are starting in the correct swim wave. All
Duathletes will start their first run at 8 am with the first triathlon swim
wave. Swim start waves will be announced at a later date.
CHIP TIMING - New this
year: timing chips are disposable and
will be handed out at packet pick up rather than at the entrance to the
transition area on race morning as in the past. More information on the timing
chips will be available at packet pick up.
– Headphones, headsets, walkmans, ipods, mp3 players, or personal audio
devices, etc are NOT to be carried or worn at any time during the race.
AGE REMINDER - Your age for this race and other USAT sanctioned
events is your age as of Dec. 31, 2016 rather than your age on race day.
- Pre-race meeting will be
held at 7:40 am in the transition area. Final instructions and updates
will be announced at that time.
- It is the responsibility of
the participant to know and follow the proper course. (See race web site,
www.tri-shark.org , for course
event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon. All USAT rules apply. Most

and other water safety volunteers will be instructed to give special

regular swim wave if you are wearing a pink cap.

Lifeguards and kayakers will be positioned all along the swim course to

with your wave. When you arrive in the transition area, please be mindful of
others who have already selected a spot on a rack and do not move bikes or
equipment without the owner’s permission.

bike dismount line on the road outside of the transition area. Failure to
dismount at this line can result in a time penalty.

match your race bib number with the number on your bike. If you must
remove your bike from the transition area before the race is over, please
be courteous to those athletes still on the course.

- We are no longer able to
mail out awards due to the cost. Please try to pick up your award or have
someone pick it up for you during the race. Awards not picked up will be
available at Often Running/Vitesse Cycle Shop in Normal beginning Monday
after the race.
