STARTS – Please
note that the Tri-Shark has an open wave (wave 1) to allow our more competitive
athletes to race head to head. Participants in this wave are eligible for
overall awards, but not age group awards. Each swim wave will have a different
swim cap color . Please check the information on your race bib to
make sure you are starting in the correct swim wave. All Duathletes will
start their first run at 8 am with the first triathlon swim wave. Swim
start waves will be announced at a later date.
TIMING - Timing chips are
disposable and will be handed out at packet pick up rather than at the entrance
to the transition area on race morning as in the past. More information on the
timing chips will be available at packet pick up.
NO HEADPHONES –
Headphones, headsets, walkmans, ipods, mp3 players, or personal audio devices,
etc are NOT to be carried or worn at any time during the race.
REMINDER - Your
age for this race and other USAT sanctioned events is your age as of Dec.
31, 2016 rather than your age on race day.

- Body marking is located at the
entrance to the transition area.
- The transition area is for race
participants only – NO SPECTATORS ALLOWED. . NO GLASS
CONTAINERS allowed in the transition area.
- The start of the swim will be at the
boat launch and the course will be marked with large orange buoys.
Swim counter clockwise, always keeping the buoys on your left.
- Warm up swimming will be available
starting at 7 am.
- Swim caps are mandatory and will be
provided in your race packet. The cap color signifies what swim wave you
will start in. If you are new to open water swimming, you may ask
for a pink cap at packet pick up. Lifeguards and other water safety
volunteers will be instructed to give special attention to participants in
the pink caps. You will still start with your regular swim wave if you are
wearing a pink cap.
- If you experience trouble during the
swim, wave your arm in the air. Lifeguards and kayakers will be positioned
all along the swim course to assist you.
- You may rest on boats or paddle
boards without disqualification. If you are unable to complete the swim,
please take off your timing chip and turn it in to the swim starter. For
swim accountability purposes, it is very important that you let the
starter know that you did not complete the swim.
- Wetsuits will be allowed as per USAT
rules. Swim goggles are recommended.

can be seen and calling out your number to them.
- Water will be available at miles 1
and 2 of the run course.
- Runners must wear their race number
on front when crossing the finish line.
- Relay team members will make their
exchange by handing off their timing chip. No chip= no time!! Exchanges
must take place within the transition area at the team bike rack. Relay
team runners should be wearing their team’s race bib when they cross the
finish line. DO NOT carry your timing chip across the timing mat - it
needs to be on your ankle for your time to register.
- The transition area will be secured
until 11:30 am. When exiting the transition area after the race, you will
be asked to match your race bib number with the number on your bike. If
you must remove your bike from the transition area before the race is
over, please be courteous to those athletes still on the course.
- Lost and found will be located at the
